LIV Golf stars Garcia and Reed to return for Macau

Major champions Sergio Garcia and Patrick Reed have been confirmed to participate in the International Series Macau, presented by Wynn, scheduled to take place at the Macau Golf and Country Club from March 20-23. Both players were part of the inaugural event last year, marking the series' debut.

Sergio Garcia, who captains the Fireballs GC team in the LIV Golf League, will be accompanied by teammates Abraham Ancer, the reigning LIV Golf Hong Kong 2024 champion, David Puig, who narrowly lost in a playoff to John Catlin at last year's Macau event, and Luis Masaveu, a recent addition to the team. All four players from Fireballs GC have demonstrated strong performances this season, notably winning the team title at LIV Golf Adelaide by six strokes last Sunday.

In last year's Macau event, Garcia tied for 21st place while Reed secured fourth place and played alongside Catlin during the third round when Catlin recorded a historic 59—the first sub-60 score on the Asian Tour. Reed also achieved a 59 later that year to win the Link Hong Kong Open, making his return to the Greater Bay Area particularly notable.

Both Catlin and Puig have confirmed their participation again this year, along with Hong Kong's Taichi Kho, winner of the 2023 World City Championship.

This year's tournament is significant as it has been included in the Open Qualifying Series for the first time. The top three finishers who are not already exempt will earn spots in this summer’s Open Championship at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.

Rahul Singh, Head of The International Series, expressed excitement about the high-caliber field, stating that featuring major champions and rising talents elevates the event. He emphasized that with three places available for The Open, it promises to be an exhilarating week of world-class golf.

Entry to the event is free for all four days; tickets can be registered at www.tixr.com. For further details on The International Series, visit www.internationalseries.com.
